Famara is the biggest flying site on the island
and the real reason that people come to Lanzarote to fly. The
cliff run is around 12k and the max height of the cliffs is 1780ft.
There are two take off sites, one higher than the other, just
outside the town of Teguise. At the foot of the take off is the
landing zone which is a huge area of sandy soil. You can also
land on the beach next to the little town of Famara. The cliffs
run all the way up to the top of the island and at the tip, form
the other side of the Mirador del Rio cliffs.
Wind Direction:
The wind can often be blowing very strongly
at the top take-off so the lower take-off is usually the better
bet. You can also top land quite easily at the lower take-off.
Hazards include:
Strong winds on the cliff face
Rotor behind the face
